[Solved] Android App with SSL

Hi there, I just downloaded the android app after I spend several hours installing, uninstalling, reinstalling and configuring yesterday. I want to use SSL with the android app since it's much safer than not using it :D But it just won't work. It DOES work with the web interface though. And the app works without using SSL.

These are my app settings:

Username: the username I use for the web interface
Password: the corresponding password
Address: dyndns.org address or local IP address (tried with and without leading 'https://')
Port: 7227
SSL Connection: true
Validate SSL Certificate: false

These are the settings in pyload:

SSL
SSL Certificate: made with openssl, works on web interface but CA is not trusted
Activated: true
SSL Key: made with openssl, works on web interface

Remote
No authentication on local connections: false
Activated: true
Port: 7227
Address: 0.0.0.0

I always get a connection timeout (LAN and WAN). I have a QNAP NAS and installed and configured pyload by hand since the QNAP version didn't work with my uploaded account. Where's the problem? Can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction?

Edit: ah yeah, of course I forwarded the port on my router. I can reach the web interface from WAN without problems.

Re: Android App with SSL

The settings looks correct. Are there any error message in the pyload log? A look in the android log would also be helpful.

Are you connecting from the same LAN of the NAS or another network?

The only error message pyload gives me since I restarted it yesterday is

  Code:
Remote backend error: (98, 'Address already in use')
Where can I find the android log?

I tried both. Connecting from within the same LAN and connecting from WAN via dyndns.org. Connecting without SSL does work both ways. Connecting to the Web Interface using port 8000 does work all four ways (LAN, LAN & SSL, WAN, WAN & SSL)

here's the whole pyload log since the last restart last night (reversed):

Re: Android App with SSL

You can not set remote and webinterface to the same port. For the android app you have to enter the remote port (7227 by default)

Re: Android App with SSL

I know. All ports are set to their default. Web interface to port 8000 and remote to port 7227.

€dit: oh and you mentioned the android logs. Can you tell me where to find these?

Re: Android App with SSL

Can it be that a pyload is already running, there should be no errors when starting the backends.

Re: Android App with SSL

When I quit pyload and then start...

  Code:
python pyLoadCore.py --status

...it only says 'false' as expected. Then I start it again with...

  Code:
python pyLoadCore.py --configdir=/opt/etc/pyload --daemon

...and get these errors.

As I stated before I CAN remotely connect with the app as long as I don't use SSL. Does it require any kind of root right to work properly?

And can you tell me where to find the android log you mentioned in your first post? ^^

Re: Android App with SSL

You need some tools are apps to access the log, eg catlog.

When you check the status you also have to use the same config dir, same for the --quit command.

Re: Android App with SSL

Okay I didn't know that. I looked up if there're any pyload process running in the background and found out that there actually was one. I killed that one, startet pyload again with

  Code:
python /opt/pyload/pyLoadCore.py --configdir=/opt/etc/pyload/ --daemon

and it works!

Thank you a lot! :D
